HIP HOP’S 50TH BIRTHDAY

New York, NY. April 11, 2023. The commemoration of Hip Hop’s 50th birthday continues. Mass Appeal taps Grammy Award-winning producer, rapper, and entrepreneur, Swizz Beatz, for Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2 – the second EP in Mass Appeal’s Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack – arriving April 21st. Coming off the first installment of the EP series with DJ Premier’s Hip Hop 50 Vol. 1, Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2 is entirely produced by Swizz Beatz. The EP is an ode to New York rap and features some of the biggest names in the culture including Nas, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Jadakiss, Benny The Butcher, Fivio Foreign, Scar Lip and Bandmanrill.

In anticipation of Hip Hop’s 50th birthday, entertainment company Mass Appeal has dedicated itself to telling the stories of Hip Hop from its vantage point through film, global activations, and music. Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack, distributed via Mass Appeal’s new deal with The Orchard, is the score to the biggest birthday bash ever. It is a collection of ten EPs of original music from DJ Premier, Swizz Beatz, Mike Will Made It, No I.D., Hit-Boy, Take A Daytrip, and Tainy, as well as a special edition R&B EP from Jermaine Dupri. The first release of the Hip Hop 50 Soundtrack, DJ Premier’s Hip Hop 50: Vol. 1, dropped this past summer, setting the stage for later releases from iconic Hip Hop voices, past and present.
