WEIRDO WORKSHOP PRESENTS…RISING R&B GIRL BAND THE SHINDELLAS SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM “HITS THAT STICK LIKE GRITS” SEPTEMBER 12

ALBUM IS A LOVE LETTER TO THE PAST, PRESENT &
FUTURE OF R&B MUSIC

HITMAKERS CHUCK HARMONY & CLAUDE KELLY MASTERMIND
THE EVOLUTION OF THE GIRL BAND WITH “NEW AMERICAN SOUL”

(August 27, 2021) Soul Music, by definition, incorporates elements of rhythm and blues and gospel music, popularized by African-Americans. And let’s face it, soul music has been the base for telling the stories of Black lives forever. Today’s times require a fresh modern feel or “New American Soul,” coined by multi-Grammy-nominated songwriting-production duo Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly, a.k.a. Louis York (the masterminds behind some of the most popular and liberating hits for artists like Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, MileyCyrus, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan).

The rhythms, the sound, and the emotions that it brings, everything that is great about soul music, is what you will get from The Shindellas‘ debut album Hits ThatStick Like Grits, dropping on September 12 via Weirdo Workshop/The Orchard. The brainchild of Chuck and Claude, who handpicked members Kasi Jones, Stacy Johnson, and Tamara Chauniece under the belief that when women come together, powerful change can happen. Written and produced by these hitmakers, this 14-track album showcases each voice and how well they blend to sound like one voice. The album’s lead single “Money” has become a fan favorite, with the video garnering over 2.3M views on YouTube. Refinery29 says, “Glam, energy, and talent — The Shindellas have it all, and “Money” is undeniable proof of their star power.” Other releases featured on the album include “Fear Has No Place,” “Volcano Love,” and When You Are Lonely.

PRE-ORDER “HITS THAT STICK LIKE GRITS”

“We are very excited to finally release ‘Hits That Sticks Like Grits’ and the process of making this album has been so amazing working with Chuck and Claude,” gushes The Shindellas. “This album is a love letter to the music that we grew up on and where we want to fit in. As The Shindellas, we want to leave an impression and this album is a great start.”

The Shindellas have been featured on NPR (click here), appeared at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture, performed at the TEDxNashville Women, and most recently made history as the first R&B band to perform at the 2021 CMT Awards

Since hitting the scene back in 2017, the Nashville-based band has been on a mission to make an impact in music with their unique sound and style. The Shindellas will resonate with listeners as their sound is very familiar and will draw a comparison to acts like The Supremes, The Clark Sisters, The Jones Girls, and The Pointer Sister, as well as the ladies bring a new fresh take with an effervescence of vibrant vocals and passion.
