After a rigorous selection process, Heard was chosen from a pool of more than 300 higher education professionals nationwide.

“I wholeheartedly embrace this honor because it represents the combined efforts of the entire JSU team, especially administrators, faculty, staff and students,” Heard said.

She shared that the national honor helps maintain the standard of excellence established at JSU.

“I would be remiss if I did not share my sentiment related to the diligence and exhaustive efforts on display every day throughout the NSCS environment-true and dedicated professionals,” she added.

In the end, it was Heard’s unwavering support and dedication to the NSCS Chapter at JSU for more than six years that put her ahead of leading finalists, said Scott Mobley, executive director of the organization.
