INTERVIEW: Southern Laced Welcomes Emerson Hill

Vocally talented artist Emerson Hill aka Mr. Room 102 is creating quite a buzz in the Southern Soul/Blues circuit. Although his demeanor may be modest and his overall persona is humble, fans are buzzing about the rise of one of the newest R&B singers in the South.

As an emerging young artist, Hill has already been able to bring the “new school” and “old school” together like no other. He’s able to rock a crowd and woo them effortlessly with ballads. Hill’s voice is absolutely invigorating, which easily captures the attention of his audiences immediately.

Fans love that they can expect a great show every single time he performs. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small private gathering or a sold-out coliseum. Hill gives it his all!

He’s also gentle and respectful to the crowd. Hill takes time to mingle, take pictures and give hugs to fans before and after his shows.

Here’s what Hill had to say in a one-on-one interview with Southern Laced:

Q: How would you describe your music?

EH: Southern Soul/Blues

Q: Who has been an influence on your sound?

EH: The greats of the past. To name a few, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Prince, and Michael Jackson.

Q: Name one place you would love to perform.

EH: I would love to perform in Africa.

Q: What do you say to yourself when you get discouraged?

EH: During the last conversation I had with my grandmother, she told me, “Don’t quit.” So I can’t.

Q: When is your next performance?

EH: My next performance will be on February 8th at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, MS, which is owned by Morgan Freeman. The show starts at 8:00 P.M.
