(Monday, October 29 – Toronto, ON) On Friday, October 19, JUNO Award-winning Canadian reggae artist, Kirk Diamond released his new single “Once Upon a Time,” a follow up to his 2017 EP GREATER. On the heels of winning his first JUNO award earlier this year (equivalent to a Grammy), Mr. Diamond dropped another gem for his fans that would not only push the bar but also encourage and inspire listeners.

Distributed by VPAL Music and produced by Y Rush (Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Romain Virgo), “Once Upon a Time” is an upbeat inspirational tune as seen in the lyrics – “once upon a time we used to live in love and harmony and once upon a time my best friend wouldn’t want to be my enemy,” which is delivered over an up-tempo rhythm.

Kirk Diamond draws influences from all arenas but specifically dancehall and roots reggae as seen in his music. “The eighties were the golden era of dancehall, which is a subdivision of reggae. My music is conscious with very powerful messages but I cannot help but pay homage to those who paved the way for me, dancehall is a part of our culture. It is a part of my culture.”

Earlier this week, popular reggae music site, reggaeville.com exclusively premiered the lyric video to “Once Upon a Time” and can be seen here. The single is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
