Question: Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? Where do you live now?
Isaiah: I’m from Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Adrianna: I’m from Brandon, Mississippi. We both still live in Brandon.
Question: How did you meet?
Isaiah: We met in high school. We had English together during our Freshman and Senior year.
Question: Describe the moment you knew you belonged together.
Isaiah: I would say I knew we belonged together after a few months of reconnecting while I was working as a graduate assistant at Mississippi College. She surprised me and came to a road game that I was not expecting to see her at! I kinda got the hint that she was into me then.
Adrianna: He loves to tell that story, but he always leaves out what led up to it. (laughs) Shortly after reconnecting, he started coaching and was so passionate about it. I surprised him because I knew how important this chapter of his life was to him and I wanted to show my support. It was the team’s first real away game of the season.
I wouldn’t necessarily say there was a moment when I knew because I saw it in his actions and his effort consistently. His patience with me and his determination to let me know exactly how he felt about me were things I’d never experienced with anyone else, and they definitely never went unnoticed or unappreciated — still don’t.
Question: What makes your relationship work?
Isaiah: Communication. It’s something that I’ve lacked in past relationships, but it’s very natural talking to her.
Adrianna: I’d have to say the same. He stressed the importance of it early on in our relationship, and we certainly see how beneficial it is and will prove to be in the future.
Question: What’s your favorite thing about each other?
Isaiah: I love how she has goals and is extremely driven when it comes to her career. She doesn’t do anything halfway.
Adrianna: I love his ambition. He’s relentless when he sets his heart and mind on something, and he is careful to pursue things only when God has led him to do so.
Tell us about your funniest moment together.
Isaiah: It had to be our first date in high school which prolonged our relationship until after we graduated from college. (laughs) I’ll let her tell the story. (laughs)
Adrianna: Oh, the first date… We’d exchanged numbers one night at Applebee’s (well, his friend asked me for my number, because he didn’t want to in front of my friends), and after talking for a bit and seeing one another in class we decided to see a movie. Well, I wanted to pick it, because I’d seen the previews for this new action movie. To both of our surprise, it was SUPER inappropriate and made for an awkward first date. We didn’t even get halfway through it and decided to leave. Needless to say, we didn’t go on another date. We hung out maybe twice during college, but that was it until a little over a year ago. We can laugh about it now!
