Lady Gaga had to be chosen to fill the slot left open by Beyoncé, and this proved to be a smart choice as she has an equally huge fan base, and her music integrates well with other genres. The crowd cheered with an enthusiastic glee as Lady Gaga mounted the stage at her Coachella debut. (Coachella will feature several other A-list artists and will hold over the weekends of April 14- 16 and April 21 -23 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.)
Everyone is used to the shorts and flowy dresses as Coachella’s dress code, but Rihanna mixed things up a little by wearing a body suit with a standard singlet and shorts. We give it up to her for the most unique outfit of the year!
Kendrick Lamar headlining Coachella this year has put him one spot closer to the biggest hip-hop acts like Jay-Z and Kanye West. Lamar has proven to be a rap star with talent cutting across all genres of music. Future also drew a huge crowd to the main stage bringing with him fellow Atlanta-based rap group Migos for a rendition of the hit track Bad and Bougie.
Drake appeared on stage to join Future in the performance of their collaborated song Jumpman. Massive cheering and squeals could be heard from the audience as more people rushed towards the stage.
The Weeknd, who also had a performance for his hit songs Party Monster, Starboy and Some Way slated for the second day of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, was spotted with his celebrity beauty Selena Gomez. The pair was looking pretty smitten and comfortable as they displayed some PDA and took some snapshots for the Gram. Photos of the duo also appeared on Twitter with The Weeknd wrapping his hands around Gomez as she peeks over her sunglasses.
While many fans were still swaying from the disappointment of Beyoncé failing to make it to this year’s festival, Lauryn Hill’s surprise guest appearance graced the annual event, filling it with her legendary persona.
The legendary singer came out during DJ Snake’s performance, mesmerizing fans with an excellent presentation of her hit songs. DJ Snake took to his Instagram to appreciate the star, thanking her for the amazing experience.
