A lot of us are still recovering from ditching the waist trainers and food to collecting our edges. The real question is ‘Was it the VMA’s or the BEYmas’? Beyoncé made history at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards by becoming the most awarded woman in history of the VMA’s out beating Madonna by taking home 8 awards. Salute to queen Bey, along with that amazing performances that made you literally snatch yourself bald. You already know when Beyoncé performs it’s going to be worth watching. Wasn’t Blue so cute in her outfit too?
Moving on to Rihanna, who accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award presented by Drake… she had a wonderful performance. I enjoyed every bit of it. Even though that high note during her third performance was unexpected, she still came through and shut it down. Plus, how about that introduction by Drake. He had all of us thinking that he was about to propose to her. The love he has for Rihanna is so unreal and I am all here for them, even with the slide kiss she did. Oh yes, Riri we saw it!

There were so many great performances of the night, including the pre-show, but nothing was more mouth dropping than Kanye West’s world premiere video starring Teyana Taylor, Iman Shumpert, and Baby Junie. Teyana Taylor has every girl throwing away all the junk food in the house and heading to the gym right now! Let’s not forget about that shower scene that was too much for television. All of us had to recover from that video.

Last but not least… Alicia Keys speech. She is so powerful with her words that I wish she did music again. She is such an inspiration to not only myself, but to others… especially African Americans. She advocates that all of us are equal and that we should be treated that way. She recognized the 53rd Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s ” I Have A Dream” speech and she made sure that the message from the speech was kept alive due to the recent events that have taken placed.
This year, the VMA’s was a night to remember. There were so many great moments that will continue to be talked about until next year’s VMAs in 2017.
