As you know, the BET Awards was the most watched show on television last Sunday. There were so many great moments from the opening with Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar to The Prince Tribute to the remarkable speech given by Jesse Williams.
I want to talk about this amazing opening performance by Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Beyoncé fan. When I heard that she was going to be performing, I had to hurry and get home so nobody would disturb me. From the beginning to end, I was so amazed at their performance. That was the definition of “Lit”. I hope to see more music from both of them. This opening lead into many great moments like the Prince tribute. It was so many great performances, but my favorite would have to be Bilal. He gave me those Prince chills as if Prince was actually up there performing in front of us.
Even with Sheila E. and Prince’s ex-wife, Mayte Garcia, they did an amazing job as well. Although, let’s not forget Jesse Williams speech. It was an eye opener. His speech made us all think, “Wow, why does someone else have to tell us what we should have already known?” His speech was the most talked about all over social media. He did take some heat from a lot of people, but he had a lot of supporters of what he was trying to get everyone to understand. I loved it and I hope to hear more from him.
The next thing I want to get into is the big decision Kevin Durant made by leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Golden State Warriors. Now, a lot of people have been bashing him about his decision to go to the Warriors, but if you don’t realize, KD wants to win. He wants a ring and if he stayed with the Thunder, he probably wouldn’t have gotten one. Others believe he made a great decision joining the Warriors. I am just ready to see how this basketball season goes with all the new trades from different teams.
The last thing I wanted to talk about was parents forgetting their kids in their vehicles. There have been a lot of incidents with this situation, but I never understood it. Is it really possible to forget your child in the backseat of your car? Now, I don’t want to sound ignorant or anything, but there is just no way that is possible. Your child didn’t just get in the car by themselves without you knowing they were back there nor could you think that ” Oh, I’m going to go inside this store and I won’t be in there long… so my baby can just stay in the car and it won’t hurt them.” You got to be kidding, right? There is no way that could happen. Do I have sympathy for the kids being left in the car? Yes I do, but will I feel sorry for the parent? Mmm, maybe, but still there is no way you can forget.
