It’s a photo you are tagged in on social media, a comment a loved one makes off-hand, or your favorite pair of jeans that now have betrayed you, -“Et tu, Brute?” Once again, you have added a few more unexpected and unwanted pounds to your physique. So how do you bounce back?
It’s exhausting to think of new ways to lose old weight. Let’s give credit where credit is due. I can gain 10 lbs in a week lunching on pizza, but I have to eat salads, fish, and chicken for three months to lose it. Totally unfair! Or is it?
Our bodies keep us. In good times and bad. The human body adjusts. It works constantly to maintain a basic state of being based off diet, activity, and rest…or lack there of.
We all over indulge from time to time. Your body has a natural default that if you over do it, or under do it, it stays around the same weight. Its only when you consistently over or under do it that you see a change. Thus, the shock, when your favorite pair of Miss Me jeans have done just that,…Missed You! It’s quite the surprise.
As for my own personal weight loss journey it goes back as far as 1984 as a little girl doing sit ups on the floor with my dad. But we all have our own journey stories.
Here is what I love and hate about getting fit. If you fall off of your diet and/or exercise routine, you can come back over and over. And, if you fall off your diet and/or exercise routine, you have to go after it over and over again. It’s a catch 22. So how does one do it?
It’s very important that you stay encouraged, stay hungry for getting healthy, and stay in your own fight for fitness. I can tell you to buy a bunch of workout apparel or a fridge full of veggies. But at the end of the day… in the words of Nike, “Just Do It!”
