Courage… It’s something that we all lack but strive to embrace everyday. You have to have the courage to stand on your own two feet. God or whomever you believe in didn’t give you those two feet for show. They are there to help you step into who you want to be daily.. So take those two unique body parts and have the courage to move around. It’s hard… I GET IT!! Sometimes you have to have the courage to stand for yourself. Sometimes you have to have the courage to stand for somebody else.. Sometimes you have to have the courage to just stand alone.. Courage can be a scary trait for some and not for most. When you embrace courage, you can encourage someone to embrace it too. It’s a process especially when you have never encompassed the thought of how important courage may be. It took me a while to embrace it.
I remember when I was young, around 9 or 10. One day, there was this girl on the bus downing my sister. I sat there for a while just listening to all the harsh comments that she said about her. My sister started going back and forth with this young lady, while I’m progressively getting angry. So I stood up, went to the front of the bus where she was sitting and I slapped her. Granted that was wrong and let me make it clear I’m not promoting violence. It was just that at that time, that’s all I could think of doing. That was the first thing that came to my mind to do also she was older than me so I figured it was a cool thing to do also. Looking back, it wasn’t but I couldn’t let her continue. I had to round-up the courage to stand up for my sister because she is someone who I love and I believe in.
Courage is not about violence or embarrassing individuals, it’s about not being someones doormat. It’s about owning you!! It’s about when you know that when people have gone a little to far, you let them know that it’s not cool.
Courage is also standing up for what you believe in but not being oblivious to other people’s feelings, beliefs, or way of life. You can’t change anyone who doesn’t want to be changed but you can have the courage to make a difference in their and also your life. Tell yourself today that, “I HAVE THE COURAGE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!” One step at a time, one day at a time, one person at a time… Make a difference!!
