Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? Where do you live now?

We are both from Brandon, Mississippi. We just relocated to Pearl, Mississippi together.

How did you meet?

Mutual friends on Facebook… We talked occasionally in 2009, but it was nothing serious. However, we did take interest in each other. It was just bad timing.

Describe the moment you knew you belonged together.

Deneeka: We picked up in 2012. During conversation, we realized how much we had in common. We talked every day and almost literally all day. At the time, Doug was in Biloxi and he was torn between staying there and starting over. He chose to move back to Brandon and we’ve been together every since.

Doug: We fit together like a puzzle.

What makes your relationship work?

Being so much alike, it is easy for us to be together. We compliment each other well. My strengths are her weaknesses… vice versa. We need each other.

What’s your favorite thing about each other?

Doug: Deneka is very unpredictable. I can never really tell what she will do next. From her hairstyles, moodswings, and nurturing personality. She allows me to be myself even when I am being difficult. She’s beautiful. All of her is my favorite.

Deneka: He makes me smile. I love his smile. He has seen me at my worst and still loves me. Doug is patient with me and a great person and father. It’s hard for me to pick my favorite thing about him because he is literally everything I’ve asked for… even at his worst.

Tell us about your funniest moment together.

We don’t have one. The fact that we find humour in just about everything is how we cope with life.
