Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? Where do you live now?

I am a teacher on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I grew up here. I attended college at Jackson State University.

How did you meet?

My best friend had a co-worker that she thought would be perfect for me. I was not really open to the idea of a “blind date”. But it seems she was right! PJ and I have been inseparable since we met.

Describe the moment you knew you belonged together?

A few months into our relationship, I faced a difficult moment with my family. PJ is usually good at cheering me up when I am down. This time, however, he was my strong rock. I will never forget the security I have felt with him right by my side from that moment on.

What makes your relationship work?

Our relationship works because we put God first. We attend church together as a family and we pray for one another. We also work because of our respect and love for one another. We are considerate of each other’s feeling and consult one another on decision making.

What’s your favorite thing about each other?

My husband is my best friend! He is the only person on this planet that I can completely be myself around. We know everything about each other. There are no secrets. We share goofy moments, stories, tears, dreams and hopes for the future.

Tell us about your funniest moment together.

In our ten years together, we have had so much to laugh at. Nowadays, our laughs usually have something to do with our four children. Those babies make our lives rich!
