Ready for Your First Half Marathon? Coach D’Onna’s Tips Will Get You to the Finish Line

Thinking about running your first half marathon? D’Onna, a certified run coach and host for Starter Pack Running in Northern Colorado, has some top tips to share from her own first half-marathon experience. With a background in dance and a commitment to empowering women through fitness, D’Onna knows how to balance physical training with the right mindset. Here are her five essential tips to help you crush your first half marathon:

1. Focus on Mental Strength – The physical training is crucial, but in those last few miles, mental endurance can make all the difference. Keep pushing; you’ve got this!

2. Watch Your Pace – Adrenaline can make you start too fast. Aim to keep a steady pace to conserve energy for later in the race.

3. Plan Water Stops – Hydration is key, but water stations can get crowded. Be mindful of timing to avoid losing momentum.

4. Know the Course – Research the route in advance to prepare for any unexpected hills or downhill sections that could impact your rhythm.

5. Celebrate Your Achievement – Crossing that finish line is an incredible accomplishment, and everyone will be proud of what you’ve achieved.

Beyond the race, D’Onna’s coaching work goes further. As a Pilates instructor, ballet coach, and online fitness trainer, she’s passionate about helping women build strength and resilience in their fitness journeys.
