Berklee College of Music will present an honorary Doctor of Music degree to the acclaimed singer-songwriter Ledisiat its 2024 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Boston University’s Agganis Arena.The commencement festivities will begin on the evening of Friday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. with a reception and concert at Agganis Arena. The concert will feature a global cast of over 200 student vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, arrangers, and track producers from the graduating class, who will perform a musical tribute to Ledisi’s acclaimed body of work.
Ledisi, fresh off the successful release of her 11th studio album Good Life and the wrap-up of her electrifying “Good Life Tour,” will be celebrated and recognized for her invaluable contributions to the world of music and her philanthropic endeavors.
Berklee’s honorary doctorate recipients are recognized for their outstanding achievements and their impact on the music industry. Past recipients from the college include Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion,and Missy Elliott, among other renowned artists.
Ledisi’s soulful voice, powerful performances, and commitment to uplifting the Black community have solidified her status as a global superstar and a role model for aspiring musicians. Her participation in Berklee’s 2024 commencement ceremony will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of music industry leaders.
