GRAMMY MUSEUM® MISSISSIPPI ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF PROGRAMS TO CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

SPECIAL SCREENINGS AND FREE MUSEUM ADMISSION TO BE OFFERED

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT BY MADDOX FOUNDATION AND VISIT MISSISSIPPI

CLEVELAND, MISS. (Feb. 1, 2024) GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi has announced a slate of special programming to celebrate Black History Month in February. The month of events will feature special screenings of films including The Little Mermaid, Whitney: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and The Princess Frog, plus free admission to the Mississippi Museum on Sunday, Feb. 4, Sunday, Feb. 11, Sunday, Feb. 18, Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb 25.

“We are honored to mark Black History Month at GRAMMY Museum Mississippi by celebrating historic Black figures and creators through special screenings and events,” said Emily Havens, Executive Director of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi. “We would also like to thank the Nissan Foundation for their support in making this month-long celebration happen, along with our additional sponsors Maddox Foundation and Visit Mississippi.”

A full programming schedule for Black History Month is below.

All film screenings are free, and RSVP is not required.

Thursday, Feb. 1

10 a.m.: Backstage Pass with Carla Thomas (free education event)

7 p.m.: Spotlight: Carla Thomas: Tickets are free for GRAMMY Museum Members and $15 for non-members.

Friday, Feb. 2

6–8 p.m.: Kids Rock the Red Carpet

The Kids Rock the Red Carpet event provides children 12 and under the opportunity to join in the excitement of GRAMMY Week. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.and will begin with the opportunity for kids to walk the red carpet and be photographed by the “paparazzi,” an opportunity to sing along to GRAMMY-winning and -nominated songs during karaoke, and the chance to tour the Museum’s exhibits. 

Tickets are $15 for kids 12 and under and $10 for adults. Food and beverage are included in the price of admission, and rock star apparel is highly encouraged. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Museum Box Office at 662.441.0100.
